As regular readers will know, things with us have been difficult lately, BUT look what has come out of the blue from the blogosphere to cheer us and me up! Firstly, on the same day that my mother-in-law died, a parcel from ajb of Journeys to Scotland came, for no particular reason – or so she thought when she posted it. As it was, these sweet treats were a real comfort to us all when we got the news:
And then today a mysterious parcel with my name arrived – it was my giveaway prize from the hugely generous Purlpower! She actually knit these socks for me, in my size, in the colours I like, and lacy just as I’d requested. Can you beat that?! Such generosity.
They fit perfectly and have bucked me up all day.
We had sun this morning but now the snow and the sleet are tapping on the windows. We have a fire going and Tilly is stretched out as if she were in Fort Lauderdale. We’re still counting all our blessings, including such generosity from bloggy friends. Many thanks once again to ajb and purlpower for your kindness.
I hope you’re all having a good weekend!

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, Christine. I loved reading about your mother-in-law in a previous post. Holding her in you heart and thoughts is the best gift for her now. Isn’t it amazing how small gestures can let a little bit of light shine in when all seems dark? The socks are gorgeous!

I rather like the title of ‘Helen of Purlpower’, it sounds super-refined! I hope your socks keep your feet warm for many days and nights to come.
