A Gift!

In the midst of these difficult past few months, Michael and I have each received a gift out of the blue.  Michael’s was actually a PRIZE:  the new Chambers dictionary for being champeen crossword-puzzler!  And mine was a stroke of good luck:  I entered a giveaway on Suzy’s blog Scraps of Starlight.  Suzy is an inspirational woman who is homeschooling (or unschooling) her five children, and who is also a talented poet.  And look what came in the post for me!

For me!

The embroidered card is as beautiful as the book.  And I thought it was significant that I – the worriedest mom lately – should be the recipient of this particular gift!

On the topic of giveaways, if you’re interested in the Amish, I’m giving away a book of Amish proverbs on the 2nd of January:  click here to enter.

Lastly, we also received a fabulous online gift from faraway friends, in the form of a brilliant stop-motion video using Lego.  It’s called “The Christmas Football Match 2011”:

Today is the last day of the semester at university, and apart from a few things I need to sort out from home, I am pretty much now on holiday for the next three weeks!  Not having had any time off work since the first week of August, my general feeling is one of HOORAY!!!!!

I wish you all a very happy weekend.

  12. Dear everyone,

Thanks so much for sharing my happiness at my good fortune! Kelly, perhaps I will do a post about the book, thanks for suggesting it. I remember the days of the live alarm clock – not all that long ago, it seems!
