Thank You! and a giveaway

Dear readers, words simply cannot express my deep gratitude to you for your helpful and supportive comments on my last post, and for your thoughts and prayers.  Yes, we plan our lives a certain way, but we all have to face difficulties and then choose what’s most important.  I’ve probably said this before, but one of my favourite jokes is:  Q. How do you make God laugh? A. Tell Him your future plans.  But even though we never know what’s around the corner, I believe that a loving God is with us all the way.  Amused by our control freakery, maybe, but right there.  On that note, here’s the rainbow that the Dafter and I were taking photos of at the beach (in my last post):

Rainbow over Aberdeen bay

I thought it would be nice to do a little giveaway to express my true thankfulness.  It’s not much, but if you would like to be the proud owner of this linen tea towel depicting a map of the North-East of Scotland and some of its landmarks, then please leave a comment on this post.

To be given away: Aberdeen and Grampian teatowel (yes, I did iron it but obviously not well enough!).

I’ll draw the name of the lucky winner at 4 pm on Sunday, November 4th.

At first I thought Tilly’s muscling in on my photograph was your typical feline “I need to be right in the middle of things” behaviour.  But then I realised that she was actually doing an imitation of Queen Victoria on the bottom right of the tea towel:

I’m happy to ship the tea towel anywhere worldwide.  (Tilly stays here with us.)  Thanks again!

  1. That’s a nice tea towel, and very kind of you to give it away. I always feel it’s a special treat when Tilly puts in an appearance, and her Queen Victoria imitation is spot on. Glad to hear you’ve been benefitting from the support of the blogdom, I must admit I’m extremely grateful to you and many other bloggers for your support, too. Hurrah for blogging, and for the ever delightful Tilly!

  2. Tilly is a beautiful cat. You have a lovely family and if my daughter was going through what your daughter is I would absolutely want to be home with her at all cost. Family comes first in my book. How very nice that your giveaway is open to those of us that live far away as I do in the USA. Thank you.

  3. Christine, I was very sad to hear how poorly your lovely daughter is. Well done for making the difficult decision to take some time out from your job – I applaud you on every level. I will be praying for healing for your daughter and peace for you. My 8yo daughter is in almost constant pain (so far untreatable but I still have hope) and I understand how draining this can be for a parent. Here is a verse I have had to learn by heart, my children too! ‘Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand forever.’ Proverbs 19v21 – I hope it will encourage you. On a lighter note, your cat comment made me laugh – no offence to Her Majesty, but Tilly’s much cuter!

  4. Thanks for sharing your photo of the lovely rainbow Dafter and you saw, Christine. Portland is back to its more typical self. After nearly three months with only a trace of rain we have been having showers almost every day this week:) But earlier today I looked out to see the sunshine turning the the autumnal hued leaves into shimmering stained glass in the air and marvelous mosaics on the ground. Storms do batter our lives sometimes, as you and I know, but like you I am grateful for the rainbows of beauty and promise that seem all the more precious because of the fierceness of the storms. I join my prayers with others asking God for healing and blessing for you and yours…and I also thank Him for Tilly and her regal pose:) I appreciated Arctic Mom’s perspective about blogging, and realize that I shy away from reading blogs that are too flashy or perfect, but enjoy reading those that show life hopefully even if struggling through life’s storms. How very kind of you to generously offer to launch the pretty tea towel to someone, when you already regularly gift each reader with your pictures and prose! Thanks, with xx from Gracie

  5. I love autumn; it’s my favorite season because it is so colorful and alive. I like the picture mentioned by grayseasaylor of how the showers cause things to shimmer and how the sunshine brings out the beautiful colors. it is so often after the storms of our lives. many blessings on you, my friend.

  6. How lovely to see the rainbow, and just as lovely are the scalloped patterns the waves are making on the beach. I don’t do the praying stuff as such, but I wish for the same harmony of pattern in your lives.
No need to include me in the giveaway – since I live in Scotland I can more easily acquire this tea towel than some of your other readers. I have to confess to having a tea towel fetish. I consider them to be a form of High Art.

  7. I loved Tilly’s impersonation, very convincing! No need to enter me either, seeing as I live here too, but it’s very kind of you to be willing to send it anywhere in the world. Loved your pretty rainbow, I never tire of seeing them either. xxx

  8. What a lovely idea, I think Tilly should have been an actress…her impersonation of QV is truly priceless. Hugs from a very grey N.Wales xx

  9. Hugs to the Dafter and yourself. I enjoy your blog so much. I now have Aberdeen and area on my wish list. I love tea towels from the UK. They are the real deal to me.

  10. I’m sorry to hear about your beautiful Dafter’s illness. I like your joke – I have a very difficult time dealing with change of any sort, and now I have something to remind me to smile when I am overwhelmed. I’m sending you love and prayers from across the ocean and hope that brightens your day the way you did mine.

That is the best Queen Victoria impersonation I have ever seen. 😀

  11. What a lovely picture of Tilly !!
And that picture of the rainbow is very beautiful, nature’s creations are so wonderful.
Your give away is so beautiful, would love to have a change at the towel. Maybe as you know Scotland stole my heart when I visit it and when we are going again on a vacation it will be Scotland again !!

  12. What a nice unique giveaway! As a rule I never enter giveaways but this time I can’t resist. I haven’t been following your blog for long but a combination of Scotland, knitting and a cat along with everything else you write about is a recipe for a great blog in my books!

  13. Sounds like lovely day you and your daughter had by the sea, it is always the best of days when your by the water! Put my name in for your pretty giveaway. Diane

  14. What a lovely towel and how sweet of you to host a give-away! Are you sure Tilly isn’t included?! 😉 Sitting here with my second cup of coffee and enjoying catching up on posts.

  15. I would love to win the Aberdeen teatowel, I have spent many great days there. I love reading your blog, seeing and hearing all about your view of the place.
    Lizzie

  16. I’m working my way back and catching up…but that Tilly…she’s a hoot! Such a beautiful rainbow capture. I’m with you and I know that no matter what we go through, God is right there walking through it, guiding and leading and comforting. It makes walking through those dark spots all the more reassuring.
