From our house to yours: Merry Christmas!

I want to wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Christmas.  Whether you are visiting here for the first time, or a regular reader, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope that the season of light in the darkness will bring you renewed hope, and reminders of the love that surrounds you.

Here we have been receiving parcels and cards, putting presents under the tree, and marvelling at the kindness and love of our friends, family and new neighbours.  We are continuing to enjoy the Dafter’s progress with her ME.  I think one of my memories of this first Christmas in our new house in Glasgow will be how startled and delighted I’ve been when she suddenly appears in the kitchen.  I have been so used to her being tucked up in bed or on the sofa, unable to get about without help.

To all who have left such encouraging comments here, thank you, thank you, thank you from all of us.  It makes a difference!

Merry Christmas, Nollaig Chridheil, Joyeux Noel!

love from Christine, Michael and the Dafter

  1. God Jul (just to keep up the end of the Scandinavian influence in Scotland!) to you all. So glad to hear that The Dafter is materialising in the kitchen – these ordinary things that mean so much.
We are disorganised for this Christmas in an epic way, with my Dad’s hospital stay followed by the pole-vaulter’s Dad being in hospital recently and still not well tho now home. So Christmas cards have been a casualty, although I had the best of intentions of sending you one to your new home. Virtual greetings it will have to be, but just as warmly meant.

  2. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas too, and celebrating the Dafter’s progress along with you. 🙂 Big hugs, xxx

  3. What a lovely Christmas wish from Scotland! Thank you for visiting our snowy home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Enjoy your holidays…

  4. Wishing you , Michale and the Dafter a very happy and merry Christmas and a wonderful and healthy 2014.Hope to see you next year.
    Hugs and more hugs
    Erna x

  5. Merry Christmas!!!! Thanks for your greeting!! I’m so glad the Dafter has been up and around a bit more this season. Such encouragement! May that long continue!!!! Enjoy Christmas in your new home! We have a tiny dusting of snow this morning — very festive! One more thing on the needles that needs to come off. Planning to make mince pies today — those are my favorite treat. Much love to you all!!!

  6. Wishing you and your sweet family all the love, warmth, and hope of Christmas and blessings in the New Year.
    Merry Christmas!

  7. Blessing to you and your lovely family. Your home looks so warm and inviting. I may sit with a cup of tea just reflecting on your pictures. Thanks for the reminder of the Light of Christmas, I have written myself a note to work that into my sermon for this week. Again, have a very Merry Christmas.

  8. A very happy Christmas to you all (and Tilly, of course). It’s wonderful to read that the Dafter is improving, you’ve brought us plenty of joy with your blog over this past year. I look forward to more in 2014!

  9. Love to all of you.

  10. Merry Christmas to the Dafter et al. A friend of ours gave birth to baby James this morning and we are minding her older child. Christmas is all about children really. The Play Mobil crib is assembled and gives such joy and Santa is on his way! Nollaig Shona Daoibh. Terrible weather here in Aberdeen tonight. My best wishes to the Dafter, Christine, Michael and their son and Tilly too.

  11. Happy Christmas to you all Christine. It sounds like you’ll be having a lovely family Christmas – enjoy!

  12. Happy Christmas! 🙂

  13. A happy Christmas to you and yours, your first Christmas in the good city of Glasgow.

  17. Tanti aguri di Buon Natale / Best wishes for a Merry Christmas! 🙂

  18. I hope you and yours had a lovely day, Christine. My daughters prepared a yummy ham dinner. Four-year-old Molly declared that she thought the ham she was eating was delicious. Comments of agreement were heard around the table. Then during a lull in the conversation, Molly asked, “Who killed the pig?” …oh my… 🙂

  19. Merry Christmas to you all, Christine, and blessings for a wonderful and happy New Year!

  20. What a beautiful “table-scape,” Christine. I’ll be visiting the other side of the pond in the new year – wishing you many blessings in 2014! ❤

  21. Kisses and Love xo And a hug Karen

  22. May your holiday season be as wonderful as you are, and your new year be full of amazement and joy!
